Event description
ECHO is an engaging chamber music series that will feature new classical and choral music composed for the unique reverb of the Parthenon.

About this Event

Nashville-based classical ensemble chatterbird seeks locally-based musicians and composers to join us in curating a series of live, improvised soundtracks to historical film. Chatterbird accompanies footage sourced from Metro Archives that showcases landmarks, natural scenes, historical figures, cultural happenings, and political movements from the past eight decades in our city.

Film selections are currently under consideration, but include Civil Rights-era protests, footage of parades and local celebrations, early scenes from Centennial Park and

Country Music Hall of Fame, excerpts from Tom Tichenor’s quirky puppet shows, and home videos from a variety of Nashville’s citizens.

This will be chatterbird’s third season partnering with the Nashville Public Library and Metro Archives to present historical footage as part of a larger preservation effort. Previously the ensemble presented three concerts with improvisation led by Wu Fei, a master of the guzheng, the ancient 21-string Chinese zither. Chatterbird is excited to extend this project in the upcoming season, partnering with more Nashville-based performers from a variety of genres.
