Event description

Description

Launched in 1958, the Ebony Fashion Fair traveling fashion show was the first to tell the world that “Black is Beautiful”. This special celebration will feature Nefertiti Boyd, a former Fashion Fair model and former Miss Black North Carolina as well as Chanda Branch the reigning Mrs. Black North Carolina. You'll learn about the impact of this groundbreaking show on the African American experience as well as have the opportunity to share your own insights and reflections. There will also be performances by stars of the play, Dot and the musical, Pooled. All attendees will receive a gift and a lucky few will win an Ebony Fashion Fair art exhibition catalog, a swag bag or tickets to Urban Bush Women. After the program, light refreshments will be served. The event is free but registration is required. Sponsored by PlayMakers Repertory Company, Hairizon Beauty and the African American Cultural Center at NC State University.
