Pease join us for the 43rd annual Ebony Ball. The 2016 theme is Royalty: Proclaiming Your Identity featuring keynote speaker, Shemariah Arki. As per Ebony Ball Tradition, there will be dinner, dancing, and time to connect with members of the African American Society at CWRU.
A courtesy shuttle service will be provided from Case Western Reserve University to the Cleveland Airport Mariott Hotel. The pick up locations are 11439 Juniper Drive (the "Ugly Statue") and 2315 Murray Hill Road (Fribley Commons). Shuttles will begin running at 5:30PM and run to and from the hotel throughout the evening.

Shemariah identifies as an educator, an activist, and an organizer. Currently a doctoral candidate in the college of education at Northeastern University, her dissertation focuses on mothering in the wake of #BlackLivesMatter. She is an interdisciplinary scholar with expert knowledge and skills to develop, implement, facilitate and evaluate curricula that promote institutional equity, communication, and access for traditionally marginalized students and families. As an ethnographic researcher and author, her interests include cultural epistemologies and the construction of a #BlackCommaFeminist pedagogy.
