Event description

Description

The perfect eating spoon should be a balance of smooth aesthetic, and function. It should feel great in both hand and mouth, carrying food comfortably without any spills. JoJo’s spoons are at the top of their game, performing exceptionally and looking beautiful. In this course she will teach her technique for bringing out the best spoon from each piece of wood, with all her tips and tricks from years of carving.

This two-day course is aimed at people who have carved and would like to push it through to the next level.

The fee is $350, which will be billed by the instructor.

Required tools: an axe, a hook knife and a straight knife.

JoJo Wood is a second-generation green woodworker who has been making things almost since she could talk. She spent her early years meeting and learning from craftspeople as she traveled the world with her father (with whom she runs the company Wood Tools), and is now one of the U.K.'s leading spoon carvers, and is training under the last English clogmaker, Jeremy Atkinson. She aims to inspire more women and younger people to get into woodworking, teaching that technique wins over physical strength every time.
