DESCRIPTION

Hawaii is a grower’s paradise, boasting nutrient-rich soil, a consistent year-round climate and an extensive history in self-sustainable farming. On Tuesday, June 19, 2018 at THE MODERN HONOLULU, EAT THINK DRINK: The Future of Food & Friendships, How Government, Business, and Community Can Work Together, will bring leading minds together to spark a conversation on the unparalleled opportunity the next generation has to revive our islands’ food independence.

Key leaders in government, business and our community will share how they are working together to help bring progressive change to our agriculture industry. This inspiring panel will also provide insight on groundbreaking collaborations that are supporting new agricultural food hubs, innovation centers, processing facilities, etc. throughout the state.

To kick off the evening, Keynote Speaker, Senator Donovan Dela Cruz will give an insider’s look at the vision behind the Whitmore Project, an active and comprehensive plan to revitalize Central Oahu’s agricultural landscape and economic footprint. Afterwards, the conversation will continue with featured panelists Myra M. Kaichi, Senior Executive Assistant of Hawaii Department of Agriculture's Agribusiness Development Corporation and Stephanie Whalen, Executive Director of Hawaii Agriculture Research Center, moderated by Augie T.

Featured chefs include Keith Pajinag of THE MODERN HONOLULU, Raymond Locquiao of Herringbone Waikiki, Aaron Siguenza of Tamura's Tavern, and Guy Smith of Chao Phya Thai Restaurant. For dessert, satisfy your cravings with The Hawaiian Pie Company's handmade pies, and enjoy a variety of refreshing libations by Southern Glazer's Wine & Spirits and FIJI Water.
