Event description

Description

Welcome to J. Expressions' first Reading (W)Riting Remedy Series!
This series will consist of four events in October, each Thursday evening -- a writing workshop, a book exhibition and book drive, a poetry reading and a panel discussion.

This is the last event of the series. The Eat a Scroll Salon, which I hope will continue beyond this series, will be a discussion on how writing and visual art are medicinal and healing. How do writing and visual art allow us to process and articulate the trauma we experience in our everyday life? How do they empower us and help us to keep moving forward?

Stay tuned for more details about featured panelists!

Thanks to St. John's University's M. T. Geoffrey Yeh Art Gallery and their upcoming project based around the book, attendees will have a chance to win a copy of Claudia Rankine's Citizen!

This project is made possible with funds from the Decentralization Program, a regrant program of the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of Governor Andrew Cuomo and the New York State Legislature and administered by the Queens Council on the Arts, and through partnerships with Cultural Collaborative Jamaica, Lewis Latimer House, Greater Jamaica Development Corporation and Prospect Cemetery Association.
