Easter Seals Hawaii Gingerbread Family Festival

Join us for Easter Seals Hawaii Annual Gingerbread Family Festival presented by The Harry and Jeanette Weinberg Foundation and Title Sponsor Napoleon’s Bakery. Kick-off the holiday season on Sunday, December 2 at the Neal S. Blaisdell Center, Exhibition Hall, by building your dream gingerbread house. Neighbor Island residents can share in this favorite holiday tradition at events on Saturday, December 8 on Kauai and Sunday, December 9 on the Big Island.
Founded by renowned Chef Alan Wong, last year the Festival boasted over 6,000 participants, 4,200 sheets of gingerbread, 18,300 bags of candy, 8,400 cups of icing and nearly 500 volunteers. Residents, businesses and community organizations can share in the fun of building their most creative gingerbread house confections. We will have the popular “Community Competition” with friendly rivalry between some of the very best community groups, companies and schools in Hawaii. Plus, Hawaii’s top chefs will go head-to-head in the “Battle of the Chefs,” an intense contest that gathers teams from renowned hotels, culinary schools and restaurants to build gingerbread masterpieces.
On-site gingerbread house construction on Oahu costs $39 and includes, gingerbread pieces, animal crackers, mixed candies, gummies, icing, cardboard and tool kit. Families have the choice of two on-site construction sessions: 9:30 -11:30 a.m. and 12:30 – 2:30 p.m. Families also have the option to purchase kits-to-go. On Oahu, the Community Competition entry fee is $400 and includes 10 sheets of Gingerbread, up to 10 participants, and teams can bring additional décor. Chefs Competition entry fee is $500, and teams need to bring wooden platform, pre-cut and pre-constructed gingerbread houses, icing, candy, and up to 10 participants. Community Competition entry fee is $150 and includes 5 sheets of gingerbread per team, up to 10 participants and teams can bring additional décor.

Established in 1946, Easter Seals Hawaii is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization offering 24 service programs on the islands of Oahu, Kauai, Maui, Lanai, and the Big Island. Over Easter Seals Hawaii’s 67 year history they have served hundreds of thousands of individuals with disabilities and their families.
Easter Seals Hawaii is the state’s largest provider of Early Intervention services for infants and toddlers, and one of the state’s largest providers of Medicaid Waiver services for adults with developmental disabilities. The Commission on the Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) has awarded accreditation to Easter Seals Hawaii’s Home & Community-Based Services.
