Connect Christian Church is hosting a massive free Easter egg event at 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 8. We’re dropping 20,000 candy-filled eggs from a helicopter on the Glen Este High School football field.
Bring your kids and have a blast as we fill the sky with Easter eggs. Registration ends when we get to 1,050 registrations.
Once the chopper has safely cleared the skies, we’ll release the kids by age group then drop even more eggs so everyone gets plenty.
What is an Easter Egg Chopper Drop?
It is the most exciting version of the traditional Easter Egg Hunt you can find. Thousands of plastic eggs, filled with candy, will be dropped from a helicopter onto a grass field. After the helicopter has safely left the area kids will then be allowed onto the field to collect eggs!
For safety reasons, kids are divided up into separate age groups. This is why registration must be completed in advance. Because of the extremely high demand for participation, admission to the Egg Drop is limited - when the tickets are gone, they're gone.
How does it work?
First a helicopter, yes, a HELICOPTER will drop thousands of eggs onto a field. The field will be pre-divided into three separate age-specific areas, to ensure children are not being pushed around by older children or adults.
Children will be on designated sidelines and will wait there until the helicopter has dropped all the eggs and flown away. At that point Connect Leaders will inform the children that the egg hunt is on! We will have plenty of adult leaders to help ensure all children stay in their designated areas during the hunt.
How will ages be broken down?
An area will be specially designated for ages 2 to 5. This field will be pre-stocked with eggs. The kids will be able to watch and enjoy the two drops at the other field, but they will get to collect eggs in the safety of their own space. Kindergarten through 2nd Grade will be the first drop, and 3rd -5th grade will be the second drop. Pre-K parents/guardians can hunt with their kids but parents/guardians of all other age groups will need to observe the egg hunts from the stands.
When and Where is this year’s Chopper Drop?
10 a.m. April 8 Glen Este High School (4342 Glen Este Withamsville Rd; Cincinnati 45245)
What Time Should I show up?
Check-in opens at 9:30am. This is a quick event, so please don’t be later than 10 a.m.
Is there a cost?
No it is completely FREE
What happens if registration is full?
We feel your pain! Because this is a free event put on by Connect Christian church and staffed by volunteers, we can only accommodate 1,050 children. There’s no good way of giving everyone a chance to get in without people getting left out. As we continue to grow we’ll add more spots.
Remember, there will be no on-site registration the day of the egg drop.
Do all of my children need to register online?
Yes. Each child will need to be registered.
Will there really be a helicopter dropping eggs & is that safe?
Yes! A full size helicopter, compliant with all laws and permits, will drop thousands of plastic eggs onto the fields before the egg hunt. But don’t worry, these are common events, and everyone will be standing in a safe area away from where the eggs are being dropped.
After the eggs are dropped, the kids (in age-appropriate zones) will be allowed to gather them up in their baskets. We will have two drops. The first one is for Kindergarten-2nd grade, and the final one is for 3rd-5th grade.
Do we need to bring our own basket or bag to collect eggs?
Yes please bring your own containers for eggs.
I have young children. Will they be over-run by the older kids during the hunt?
We have split the Easter Egg hunt into three age-appropriate zones. Each age group will be separated from the other age groups so younger children will be just fine.
- Age 2-5 Field
- Grades Kindergarten-Second
- Grades 3rd – 5th
Our 2s-5s field will be already stocked with eggs for the little ones. They will get to watch the drops and be safe hunting in their own space.
What if it’s raining?
In the event of inclement weather, please check the web site for details and watch your email about rescheduling and/or location change. If you are already registered, we will email you with any date or venue changes.
Will there be candy inside the egg?
Yes each egg with have one piece of candy. Is the candy peanut & gluten free? Yes
I have children in multiple age zones. How do I watch them all?
We are staggering the hunt times for each age group. This provides ultimate safety and ensures a parent can give full attention to their children in each age specific zone. We will announce a schedule the morning of the hunt.
Where should I park? How much is parking?
We will have parking lot staff directing you into the facility. There is plenty of parking at Glen Este High School. Parking is free.
Who should I contact with additional questions?
Joey Rolen is our Kids and Family Pastor. His email is firstname.lastname@example.org
