East of Salinas Film Screening, Q&A
Event Information
Description
East of Salinas takes us to the heart of "Steinbeck Country", the Salinas Valley, to meet a bright boy and his dedicated teacher, both who are sons of migrant farmworkers. With parents who are busy working long hours in the fields, third grader Jose Ansaldo often turns to his teacher, Oscar Ramos, for guidance. But Jose happens to be undocumented, and is starting to understand the opportunities that may be lost to him through no fault of his own.
June marks Immigrant Heritage Month. Please join the organizations MomsRising.org, Ecology Center, Welcome.US, and the Citizen Engagement Laboratory for a special screening of this film, which grabbed audience's hearts on PBS and elsewhere. We will also have guest speakers, light snacks and beverages, and a discussion that is not to be missed!
