Event description

Description

Join us for our annual Municipal Invasive Species Trainings! The Mid-Michigan Cooperative Invasive Species Management Area (CISMA) will host two Municipal Invasive Species Trainings in 2019. This registration page will RSVP you for the training event on Monday, March 4, 2019 from 10:00 am-2:30 pm at the E.L. Hannah Community Center in East Lansing. This training will offer 4 MDARD pesticide recertification credits for Priv. or Comm. CORE, Category 5, or Category 6.

The unique breakout session for March 4th will be on the topic of invasive species codes and regulations by Paul Sniadecki, a MLSA Board Member with over 40 years experience in city planning.

The other location is February 25, 2019 from 10:00 am-2:30 pm at AgroLiquid in St. Johns, and has its own agenda and registration page, with a unique breakout session for that date on managing invasive species in right-of-ways by Tim Jones of MDOT.

These trainings are FREE and help local municipalities learn more about invasive species in Mid-Michigan, how these species can negatively affect their citizens, neighborhoods, parks, and infrastructure, and what proactive steps can be taken to reduce the spread of invasive species.

Municipal Invasive Species Trainings are great for all facets of local communities- public works, utilities, road and drain commissions, forestry, city planning, parks and recreation, garden clubs, lake associations, and more.

Agenda topics planned include both terrestrial and aquatic invasive species information, a variety of guest speakers presenting on invasive species topics of interest, and other invasive species programs and opportunities available. View the full, finalized agenda available on the Mid-Michigan CISMA website at www.inghamconservation.com/mmcisma. For questions, please email erin.jarvie@macd.org, or call 517-676-2290 ext. 2.

We would like to thank the City of East Lansing and the E.L. Hannah Community Center for providing our training space. The Mid-Michigan CISMA is funded in part by the Michigan Invasive Species Grant Program (www.michigan.gov/invasives).
