About this event
Walk through the 1st floor of the Palmer-Warner House to learn about the work Connecticut Landmarks is doing to open the property. Explore the historic grounds, or just enjoy the view from the back porch. Visit the recently restored Barn and speak with evaluators to help us shape the future of the Palmer-Warner visitor experience.
The Palmer-Warner House, constructed in 1738, was home to the Warner family who resided there for over a century. In addition to the rich colonial history, the house offers a contemporary story for us to tell. The 50-acre Palmer-Warner property in East Haddam was home to preservation architect Frederic Palmer and his partner Howard Metzger from 1945 – 1971. Palmer and Metzger’s relationship to each other, their property, and the surrounding community gives perspective on the 20th century not often seen in historic houses.
The event will be held rain or shine and is free to the public. Donations welcome to support the Palmer-Warner House. Registration for timed entry is recommended; same-day on-site registration will be allowed only if the event has not reached capacity.
In order to protect the health of our staff, visitors, and community, all visitors are required to wear masks within our historic interiors due to the smaller spaces and limited airflow that is common in historic buildings. Masks are encouraged for outdoor programs where distancing is difficult.
