Cycle on the East Coast Greenway and city streets to visit National Park Service historic sites.

Bring: Water, Sunscreen, Metrocard, lunch or money for lunch, bike lock since we will be leaving our bikes behind while touring the sites.

Starting Point: Entrance to Castle Clinton in Battery Park, Manhattan
Ending Point: St. Paul’s Church (a NPS Historic Site), Westchester
The Route: A 26-mile one-way ride to celebrate the 100th birthday of the National Parks Service. Led by Park Rangers, tour three sites administered by the National Parks Service: Castle Clinton, Grant’s Tomb, and St. Paul’s Church, a Revolutionary War site in Mount Vernon, Westchester County. BE SURE TO ARRIVE AT LEAST 10 MINUTES BEFORE 9:00AM TO GO ON THE CASTLE CLINTON TOUR!
After enjoying the Colonial-Day period re-enactments at St. Paul’s (from 12-4pm), return by Metro-North Railroad or #5 subway, both within a mile of the church. (If planning to return by Metro-North, bring your Bicycle Permit. For info on obtaining this $5 lifetime permit, good on both MNR & LIRR: http://web.mta.info/bike/). Or bike home.
About 30% of the ride will be on city streets. We will proceed at an easy-going pace of 10-13 MPH, with stops for all red/yellow lights and at the end of all trails. We usually ride rain or shine but if the weather is particularly unpleasant, you will receive a cancellation email by 7:00 AM on the day of the ride.

Restrictions: No children under 16 and under 18 only with adult supervision. There are some low-traffic streets, but mostly on-street bike lanes. There are some hills on bridges.
