Event description

Description

Take a break from holiday shopping and enjoy the gift of the greenbelt. Our nature hike takes us up Indian Joe Creek to Cave Rocks, then down to Alameda Creek and Little Yosemite.

Along the way we'll view majestic Sycamore trees and hear how many of these trees owe their existence to an amazing event that happened back in 1862. We'll also learn why geologists sing "Old Man River" to explain why Alameda Creek follows the course that it does through the hills.

TOTAL DISTANCE

This is an easy to moderate three-mile round trip hike on trails and streets with a few sections of steep up and down.

LEADER
Ken Lavin

WHERE TO MEET
We'll meet at the park visitor center (Old Green Barn). There are restrooms near our meeting spot.
