CafeWoman

Ease Your Transition Through Menopause With Mindfulness Meditation

CafeWoman is a new Women's Health and Wellbeing event group based in Ilkley, designed to support and empower women throughout midlife and beyond.

We hold bespoke events across Yorkshire with leading health care experts, covering subjects such as the Menopause, Healthy Ageing, Stress Management, Healthy Eating, Self-Care, Brain Health and Personal Growth.

Our aim is to inspire and motivate women via our events, and to encourage the essential practice of healthy eating, exercise, stress management, relaxation and sleep hygiene, the foundations of health and wellbeing we now know as Lifestyle Medicine.

We are delighted that our friend & Meditation teacher Zeenat Cameron is joining us at this event to give a talk on Meditation specifically aimed at helping to support the transition through Perimenopause and Menopause.

Zeenat Cameron Meditation Teacher.

Zeenat Cameron is a meditation teacher and personal development facilitator, who for the past twenty-five years has studied and practised extensively in the Buddhist, Yoga, and Tantra wisdom traditions, travelling in India and spending time in ashrams world-wide. She offers a range of evening classes and day courses in meditation, as well as one-to-one consultations, from her base in Chapel Allerton, Leeds, West Yorkshire.

From Zeenat:

In this session discover the benefits of mindfulness meditation and how it can help you transition through the menopause with grace and flow. Mindfulness wires our brains for happiness, kindness and confidence, and brings wellbeing to the body and mind.

In mindfulness practice we rest our awareness on some object, such as our breath or our bodily sensations, and witness what is happening without judgement. In simply observing whatever is present for us in a gentle, non-attached way, the mind becomes steadier and calmer. The body become more relaxed and settled. Rather than reacting to unpleasant thoughts and sensations we can simply acknowledge and step back from them.

As it helps us to release our attention from unpleasant thoughts and feelings, mindfulness is very effective in helping us deal with stress. It helps us skilfully adapt to the ever-changing circumstances of life. It has been shown to a have a wide variety of positive effects and to

relieve many of the emotions and bodily symptoms we can encounter in menopause. For example, it can help to relieve and help us deal with low mood, anxiety and insomnia, and has been shown to help reduce some physical symptoms such as hot flushes, night sweats or achy joints.

While it cannot fully alleviate all the bodily symptoms of menopause, it can help us to ride them out in a calmer and more compassionate way and to be less bothered by them.

During the session you will be guided in a couple of mindfulness meditations and there will be time for discussion and questions. By the end of the evening you will have a few more tools in your bag to help you look after your wellbeing and make time for yourself.

We look forward to meeting you and welcoming you to enjoy an uplifting evening of meditation talk and practice.
