Description


Designed to provide firsthand experience in a field setting with the practical survival skills needed to survive and travel in a fall/winter environment. All survival priorities will be covered including shelter, fire, water, food and awareness. The course will be divided into outdoors lecture, hands on experience and group interaction. No meals provided, however the group with experience a limited amount of first hand foraging and wild food processing. Parcipants are responsible for own meals and gear.In addition, debris huts with be constructed and slept in the evening of the two day course. Topics covered but not excluded to our as follows……..

Shelter Outline:

  • Fall/Winter Shelter

  • Lean too

  • Debris huts

Fire Building:

  • Flint & Steel

  • Bow Drill construction and wood selection

  • Wet weather fire building

Food Outline:

  • Wild Edibles – Arrowroot processing, Wild acorn processing demo

  • Primitive & Modern Trapping, primitive hunting options

  • Rope cordage from plant fiber

Water Procurement

  • Rock Boiling

  • Container Options

  • Filter Options

Starts 10am at the meet up place of White Crane Canoe Rentals & Guide Service and Ends the following day at 3pm. Prepare for travel drop of and moderate hiking to our destination near Dutchmen Lake private and public areas. Gear list and schedule will be sent to attendees after registration.
