Event description
Drop, Cover, Hold On, Will you be Prepared when the New Madrid Fault Unzips? Join CHUG's Full-Scale Exercise to prepare for an Earthquake.

About this Event

Although Earthquakes typically are not associate with events that occurr in the Midwest, portions of the midwest lie o the New Madrid Fault. How prepared is your organization to deal with the affects of an earthquake that can cause widespread damage to property, streets, resulting losses to contents and even fatalities. Think it will not affect you? In 1811-1812 the New Madrid Fault unzipped and ruptured. The earthquake resulted in 125 miles of river bluffs along the Mississippi to disintegrate and jets of sand spouting from the ground, also referred as liquefication. Damage to homes, land, commercial property were widespread over 232,000 miles! The Mississippi river even flowed backwards in some regions. Liquefication and seismic activity extended as far northeast as White County Illinois. According to the United States Geological Society, (USGS) the seismic activity has increased in the New Madrid Fault zone from 2014 -2018.

So, stop and think again. Are you and your organization prepared for an Earthquake Experience? Is your building earthquake ready, are you prepared for an influx of victims? Are you prepared for liquefication and the seismic activity?
