SUMMER SANGHA FOR THE SOUL
“2500 years ago, Shakyamuni Buddha proclaimed that the next Buddha will be named Maitreya, the ‘Buddha of Love’. I think Maitreya Buddha may be a COMMUNITY and not just an individual. A good community is needed to help us resist the unwholesome ways of our time. Mindful living protects us and helps us go in the direction of Peace. With the support of friends in the practice, peace has a chance.” –Thich Nhat Hanh
“Sangha” is a sanskrit word that means a gathering, congregation or group of heart centered individuals willing to join together and share their wisdom with one another so that everyone may evolve, learn and grow.
TOPICS FOR THE 5 DAYS
DAY 1: Maitreya ,the Buddha of Love
DAY 2: Musings of the Buddha
DAY 3: Madhyama: The Middle Way
DAY 4: Battling the Demons
DAY 5: The Four Immeasurables
The spiritual path can be a challenging one, and sometimes it may feel like we’re doing it alone. Throughout the ages, spiritual seekers have come together with other like-minded individuals to embrace each other in their Light and shadow, Joy and despair. Spiritual friends support and encourage each other, holding up mirrors to reflect one another’s potential, all they can BE and the Divine Nature of their soul.
Each day we will practice traditional yoga asanas, meditation, pranayama, mudras and kriyas.
But more than just practicing yoga, this intensive will provide an opportunity to reflect on and integrate some playful and introspective lessons of the Buddha, which are as relevant today as they ever were.
“The jewel of community, the Sangha, is to be held equal to the Buddha and the Dharma. Indeed, the whole of the holy life is fulfilled through spiritual friendship.” -The Buddha
