Description

Session I: Wednesday, November 8, 2017 6:30-8:30 PM EEC Core Competency: 5

"STEM in the Early Years, Starting with Science" (LIMIT of 50 PARTICIPANTS)

Presented by Cindy Hoisington, M.Ed., Early childhood science educator at Education Development Center Inc. where she creates meaningful science, STEM, and literacy experiences for children, teachers, and families through inquiry-based science and STEM curricula. Formerly a preschool teacher in Boston for 16 years, she is a co-facilitator of the NAEYC Early Childhood Science Interest Forum (ECSIF)

During this hands-on/minds-on presentation, participants will experience science inquiry at an adult level, make connections to STEM, and will observe video to analyze science teaching and learning in classrooms. We will discuss current trends in early childhood science (referencing the MA STE standards) and implications for the teacher’s role in promoting children’s science inquiry and thinking.
