About the organizer
Founded in 2008, Going to Tahiti Productions (GTTP) is a production company dedicated to providing more opportunities to women in theater through showcasing the work of emerging women playwrights, staging new productions and adaptations that feature roles for women, and collaborating with men and women to bring forth timely and meaningful work that transcends gender and social stereotypes. GTTP has so far produced 8 plays, all New York premieres and most, world premieres; provided performance opportunities for 50 professional Equity and non-Equity actors, and created a working ensemble of artists, including designers, choreographers, and actors. Since the company's inception we have focused primarily on creating or adapting new works, remaining open to experimenting with different mediums – projection, movement, sound design, etc. to enhance the live performances and the overall audience experience.
