Week 8: March 27th

“Mākaha Sons LIVE!”

Featured guests for Week 8 are the much-celebrated long time music icons — The Makaha Sons — with Jerome Koko, Kimo Artis, and Hanale Kaanapu. Their sound man Jordan Ciriako is part of the package to insure that we get that same great magical sound of the Makaha Sons. One never knows the surprises they have in store for the audience but it’s always a huge treat and a magical evening.

The doors open at 5:00 pm with a special ‘ukulele circle taught by our wonderful Lady Ipo Kahaunaele. The main program begins at 6:00 pm until 8:30 pm. Intermission is a fun time when CD’s from past EKK artists and two ‘ukulele will be given away to some lucky audience members.

Food and beverages are for sale by the hotel in the ballroom. CDs of the performers are generally available for sale, as well as EKK T-shirts, various artists' crafts, and the popular BoroBoro Boutique up-styled garments rendered by GIAC artists.

The Garden Island Arts Council presents E Kanikapila Kakou 2023 as a Community Enrichment program made possible with funding support from the Hawai’i Visitors and Convention Bureau (HVCB) and the Hawai’i Tourism Authority (HTA) with support services from the Kaua’i Visitors Bureau (KVB). Celebrating Forty (40) Years of bringing to Kaua’i audiences, kama’aina and malihini alike, the very best of Hawaiian music and culture, GIAC acknowledges the tremendous and continuous support that makes this program possible.

Hotel Parking Options: Parking options at the Kaua`i Beach Resort include the following three choices: 1. Valet parking at the porte-cochere; 2. Free event parking in the unpaved area beyond the covered parking stalls — get there by turning right at the first opportunity and then take a left into a dirt field; or 3. Enter the first gated area on your right, a bit closer to the ballroom entrance than the dirt entrance, and turn into that gated area. Press a button to make the gate rise, collect a ticket issued by the machine and hold onto it. Get it validated just inside the ballroom door to receive a $10 discount off your total parking fee. Use that ticket to exit the gate, paying the balance due at the gate with your credit card.

General admission $20 // Kama'aina $10 // Keiki 12 years and under Free

Tickets will also be available at the door

EKK patrons are invited to support the season by contributing at www.gardenislandarts.org notify by email to giac05@icloud.com, or sign up as a Patron at the door.
