Event description
As e-commerce creeps closer to offering instant gratification to consumers, what is the environmental impact of our online shopping habit?

About this Event

We all love it when something we buy online is delivered right to our front door, right? Free or low cost, timely delivery has become a competitive advantage of companies. For those who rely on e-commerce efficiency to get our stuff done these days, this convenience adds to our productivity in big ways.

The downside is that transportation is the largest source of GHG emissions in the United States (29%) and is responsible for 14% of direct emissions globally.

On May 5th, we are going to look what is being done in our supply channels and transportation networks -- leveraging technology, upgrading fleets, innovating packaging -- to address the increases in GHG emissions from our love affair with online ordering and express delivery. It’s a deep dive into how we are using our roads, skies, rails and waterways to get stuff to us, the specific impact of shipping and delivery on our climate, and what needs to happen for the delivery boom to play out right in our fight against climate change.

We’ll announce our speakers and more details about this event as we get closer.
