Description

The Orleans Parish School Board’s Office of Exceptional Children’s Services is excited to offer a series of free training opportunities, focusing on dyslexia and related learning disorders. The Louisiana Center for Dyslexia and Related Learning Disorders will facilitate these interactive, hands-on training sessions, focusing on identifying and screening for dyslexia and related learning disorders, in addition to equipping teachers and administrators with research-based strategies to support individuals identified as exhibiting characteristics of dyslexia or related learning disorders.

Training Dates:

  • February 5, 2018 – The initial training will focus on characteristics of dyslexia, and participants will begin to explore identification of characteristics of dyslexia through appropriate screening instruments.
  • February 6, 2018 – Participants will learn administration and interpretation screening instruments for determining if individuals exhibit characteristics of dyslexia.
  • February 21, 2018 – The final training in the series will focus on strategies to support individuals identified as exhibiting characteristics of dyslexia or related learning disorders.

Target Audience: These training sessions are open to public and private school teachers and administrators and meets the training requirements under Louisiana Bulletin 1903. You must attend all three days to meet the requirements under Louisiana Bulletin 1903.
