Overview of what dyslexia is and types of support and help for struggling readers


Panel Discussion - Life with Dyslexia

Cole Brauer - recent UH Manoa graduate who aspires to be a trained Dula and OB/GYN

Anna Davide - a 2016 Summa Cum Laude graduate of Mililani H.S. who aims to be a doctor, specializing in family practice

John Higham - graduate of Punahou and Oregon State University where he received a M.Eng. in electrical engineering

Laurie Moore - Executive Director of the Armed Services YMCA, parent of a son with dyslexia and Treasurer of the HIDA Board of Directors


Teaching Children with Dyslexia

Learn about the difference between the decoding and encoding processes and its impact on students with language based learning difficulties. Some basic structured literacy (multisensory structured language) teaching strategies will be shared.
