Description

The purpose of this learning event is to provide training to staff throughout the unit to learn effective methods of learning for those with some of the most complicated dysfunctions in education today.  Walk away with strategies for reading ability including comprehension, math skills, handwriting, increasing sequencing and memory, improving processing speed, and stopping reversals.  Participants will also learn strategies to develop executive skills in four areas of visual perception and auditory processing, as well as developing memory strategies.

Learning objectives: * Label and describe 3 strategies for phonological processing.  *Identify the types of dyslexia and their effect on an individual's learning performance.  *List at least 3 ways to improve or accommodate visual processing problems that may lead to dyslexia, dyscalculia, and dysgraphia.  *  Discuss and define various research-based interventions for the clinical and classroom environments. *Discuss and list 5 games that can improve the executive function of a person with dyslexia, dyscalculia, and dysgraphia.
