This event will be delivered in English and Chinese. Course materials will be in both languages.  We are delighted to welcome guest contributors from NUST to help deliver this course.

Training will address DynoChem applications for engineers and scientists in process safety, with a focus on isothermal calorimeter, running informative and useful experiments and getting maximum insight from experiments in the RC1.

The standard process safety agenda will cover topics such as:

  • Obtaining physical property values for solvents and mixtures
  • Phase equilibrium calculations for boiling point, identifying azeotropes and miscibility
  • Reactor calculations for heat transfer and mixing
  • Predicting scale-up for 'dosing-controlled' reactions
  • Predict scale-up for kinetically controlled reactions
  • Calculating time to maximum rate (TMR) for process hazard scenarios
  • Optimizing reaction conditions for process safety: minimizing thermal accumulation and maximizing TMR.

Training times will be from 8:30 to 4:30 each day, with total 12 hours of tuition. Trainees will need to bring laptop computers with DynoChem installed.  Scale-up Systems will provide DynoChem installation program and training licenses for trainees who have finished registration.

Learning objectives:

By the end of the course, trainees will be able to:

  • Use DynoChem utilities to estimate parameter values, compare vessels and ensure certain safety criteria are met in lab and plant vessels
  • Look up physical properties for pure components and mixtures
  • Use plant data to determine equipment characteristics, especially heat transfer
  • Use RC1 (or similar lab calorimetry data) to predict scale-up of dosing-controlled reactions
  • Use RC1 (or similar lab calorimetry data) to build predictive kinetic models for reactions with thermal accumulation
  • Use kinetic models to find process conditions that minimize accumulation or maximize time to maximum rate
  • Draw and understand process schemes and use them to help think about how to model or design experiments to understand a new or existing process
  • Edit DynoChem models to apply them to new applications
  • Understand more about how DynoChem works internally and how it builds the model from user input
  • Interact with the DynoChem Support team when tackling new projects
  • Train and support colleagues in the use of these tools.

The registration fee includes attendance for both days of training, all training materials, coffee breaks and lunch on both days. Hotel accommodation is not included.

Refund / cancellation policy:

1. Substitutions can be made at any time before the training.

2. For cancellations made in writing up to one week before the training, a full refund will be made, less a financial charge of $100.

3. No refunds can be given for cancellations less than one week before the event.

4. Registration is open to DynoChem customers and prospective customers from industry, academia and government.
