Event description
Master Weavers Francisco and Laura Bautista will teach participants Zapotec dyeing and weaving techniques in this two-day workshop.

About this event

Pine Meadow Ranch Center for Arts & Agriculture is excited to host a two-day workshop in which Master Weavers Francisco and Laura Bautista will teach participants dyeing and weaving techniques that originate from the Zapotecs, an indigenous community concentrated in the southern state of Oaxaca, Mexico, who are famous for their one-of-a-kind weaving traditions.

Registration is required and attendance is limited. Attendance to both days of the workshop is highly recommended. Registration covers both days of the workshop.

This workshop is intended for participants who have previous weaving experience. Attendees will have to supply their own loom. Rigid heddle looms or tapestry looms work best.

A $25 fee will be charged at the time of registration to cover the cost of materials. Visit www.RoundhouseFoundation.org/pine-meadow-ranch/weaving to learn more.

About Francisco & Laura Bautista:

Husband and wife duo Francisco and Laura Bautista are from Oaxaca, Mexico. They use only hand-spun, hand dyed wool in their practice and weave each of their works on a foot pedal loom. The vibrant colors you see in their weavings come from natural and aniline dyes of their own creation. Learn more about the Bautistas at www.bautistaweaving.com.
