Event description

Description

Unparalleled JavHack

How does sports equipment change the sport? In 1984, javelin-throwers could throw farther than the field, worriying runners, coaches and spectators alike. In 1986 the javelin was redesigned for a shorter trajectory. Now, in 2017, our top throwers have mastered the re-weighted javelin and are nearing the edge of the field again. What happens next?

You will redesign the javelin for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics! What change can you make that would be exciting for athletes and spectators and the history of the sport?

Work on your throwing and your designing with 2x Javelin World Record Holder, Olympian and TurboJav creator Tom Petranoff.

We'll feed you, so your work, is extra-sharp. (But, we'll keep the javelin tips soft for indoor use.)

Register for free if you're a student, and bring your student ID or a note from your teacher when you check in on the 25th. If you're not a student any more, your registration fee will be used to promote how awesome design is to other students. Thank you!
