Domestic Violence Wears Many Tags & UnI.DMV hosts its Sixth Annual #POP2017 Teen Talent Showcase
What: Sixth Annual Passion over Poverty Teen & Young Adult Talent Showcase (7-24). The object is to provide an outlet for youth to share their talent as an alternate way to channel their anger and frustration.
Who: Domestic Violence Wear Many Tags non-profit organization in collaboration with UNI.DMV another non-profit.
When: The main event will be either Friday, Feb 24, 2017 @6-8:30pm
Where: Ridge Road Community Center, 830 Ridge RD SE, Washington, DC.
Details: This is a “free” community oriented event, inviting people of all ages to enjoy while bringing awareness to the subject of Domestic Violence & Black History. Vendors are welcome for the main event (Teen & Adult). Our students in the showcase will work with our music mentors and showcase headliners PNMA (Mikki), singer & song writer, Toni White, dancer, and Charity Blackwell, poet. The purpose of the showcase is to educate teens on dating violence, as well as getting teens/young adult’s comfortable with discussing domestic violence. We take the teens and young adults through a process to essentially build self-esteem, self-confidence character, and most importantly effective communication skills. This process is done by having them to commit to themselves by auditioning and, rehearsing for the show, and learning to brand and market their passion.
About DVWMT: Domestic Violence Wears Many Tags mission is to bring awareness to the community and families as whole as it pertains to abuse. We want to educate schools, churches, and mentor groups by reprogramming the amygdala with better decision making skills.
About UnI.DMV: (You and I DC MD VA Org) is a community-based organization dedicated to promoting unity and giving back. Through the collaborative efforts between the DMV Entertainment and Music Industry, local area businesses and organizations, UnI.DMV seeks to assist the underserved communities of Washington, D.C., Maryland and Virginia
