Synopsis

WASHINGTON DC, Saturday, October 8, 2016-Domestic Violence Wear Many Tags (DVWMT) wants you to join us for what's never been done before, the Brokenness to Boldness Monologues: A Marathon of Survivor Stories. The B2B Monologues: A Marathon of survivor stories is a testimonial of victims and abusers experiences with domestic violence and the many tags it wear (verbal, emotional, sexual, physical, and financial abuse). Domestic Violence Survivors and DMV local artist have teamed up to give you a personal rendition of their pain when in a domestic violence situation/relationship (all of the stories wear many tags too). These women and men share their most intimate desires and fears in a backdrop of humor, heartbreak and sometimes violence. Monologues like "My baby was born," and "I’ am Lynda’s Voice," among others, will touch the lives of many men, women, and teens (victims and abusers) as they embrace their brokenness to boldness. Through drama therapy, expression, and movement lives will be changed by these personal monologues, we look forward to the community supporting us in our efforts to bring innovative ways victims and abusers can start speaking out/healing self and the community through their trauma.

About Us: Domestic Violence Wears Many Tags mission is to bring awareness to the community and families as whole as it pertains to abuse. We want to educate schools, churches, and mentor groups by reprogramming the amygdala to understand abuse and assist in the decision making skills.

NOTE:  (a) Student volunteers bring your community service sheets with you on event day and (b) No vendors: Just light refreshments. Thank you for attending!
