Description
Through a strengths-based lens, you will learn about the prevalent issue of domestic violence and how to approach the topic in your work with families. Specifically, this engaging training will provide a framework for understanding the complex topic of domestic violence and how violence impacts the child, family, and community. Recognizing that we work in a diverse community, this training will also address cultural consideration for working with domestic violence issues and what resources are available to victims, survivors, and abusers.
Learning Objectives
Participants will be able to:
- Better understand the complex issue of Domestic Violence and how it impacts the child, family, and community
- Identify potential warning signs of domestic abuse
- Understand the obstacles people face when trying to leave an abusive relationship
- Practice techniques to approach the topic of domestic violence with families
- Learn about the impact of violence on children

This training is applicable to everyone.
Presenter
Andrea P. Diaz A. - As the Training and Prevention Manager, Andrea advocates and supports youth through education. She loves being in the community and working towards creating safer spaces for youth to navigate by offering outreach, information, and collaboration. Andrea is passionate about working with women and youth and learning how to best build support for and around them.
