Join author Betsy Thorpe, along with members of the Nashville Chattanooga Preservation Society, on July 6 for the premier video presentation of Dutchman's Curve, America's Worst Train Wreck at the Bellvue Church of Christ in Nashville.

  • Welcome relatives of people who died in the train wreck—including the grandchildren and great-grandchildren of railroad locomotive engineers John Nolan and David Kennedy.
  • Hear songwriter Joel Keller perform his song “Dutchman’s Curve.”
  • Be part of the first audience to see Dutchman's Curve, America's Worst Train Wreck .
  • Enjoy a traditional Southern buffet meal catered by Wendell Smith’s Restaurant. The buffet will include Wendell’s famous chicken and dumplings. And more!
  • Meet filmmakers Kirby Allen and Chris Lambos. They will answer questions about the making of Dutchman’s Curve, America’s Worst Train Wreck.

Dutchman’s Curve, America’s Worst Train Wreck was a long time in the making. Through interviews with local historian’s Ridley Wills and David Ewing, Tennessee railroad historian Terry Coats, Nashville political commentator Pat Nolan and train wreck victim grandson attorney Doulas Bates III the video explores many aspects of the disaster that happened in Nashville one hundred years ago.

Betsy Thorpe is the author of The Day the Whistles Cried: the Great Cornfield Meet at Dutchman’s Curve, the true story of America’s deadliest train wreck.

The Nashville Chattanooga Preservation Society is dedicated to preserving the memory of the NC&StL Railway. The train wreck at Dutchman’s Curve occurred on the NC&StL Railway line.
