Event description

Description

My name is Victor King and I am the peer navigator supervisor for the State Opioid Grant, I work at Mental Health Partners in Lafayette, CO. One of my roles under the grant is to oversee peer support training that is to be provided free of charge throughout the state. All of the funding for these programs (and my position) are made possible through the State Opioid Response(SOR) grant by Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration(SAMHSA). I am contacting you regarding a free training opportunity coming to Durango on January 6-9. I am a trainer in the CCAR Recovery Coach Academy program, it is a 4 day intensive trainingworkshop focusing on providing individuals with the skills needed to guide, mentor and support anyone who would like to enter into or sustain long-term recovery from an addiction to alcohol or other drugs. This prepares participants by helping them to actively listen, ask really good questions and discover and manage their own stuff. This free training is open to anyone interested in promoting recovery by removing barriers and obstacles and serving as a personal guide and mentor for people seeking or already in recovery.

This training is certified for 30 hours of peer specific credit towards the state credential. There is no specific license or degree requirements to be trained. This could also be useful for volunteers, family members or anyone interested in helping those with substance use disorders. The 4 day training will start each day at 9am and end around 4pm. Lunch will be provided. At the end of training participants will be able to get a certificate online, the full state credential will require 60 hours of training, 6 months’ work experience and 25 hours of supervision. Attached to this email is a description of the training, please let me know if you have any questions.

You can have people contact me via phone or email if they want to sign up for this training.
