Due to unforseen circumstances Ka-Zimba Ngoma will not be coming to Manches...
Since 1988 Asafo Gyata, using music, dance, rhythm and self expression, has facilitated workshops for young people and adults of all ages. He has run weekly classes in London and Bristol and has taught as far a field as South Africa, Ghana, Dominica, Grenada, Gambia and Tanzania.
He will be running a 4 hour workshop at 'The Wonder Inn' and will include the Rhythms – Movement - Poetry – Self defence and Story-telling that are at the heart of Ka-Zimba Ngoma and which are passed down by the ancients and elders and re-told be the Mfundishi (Grand Master) Mwalimu (Master Teachers) and up to this day by the current Ndugu (Teachers).
Ka-Zimba is often defined as the 'fighting dance of the Nubian Warriors' as it combines martial arts and self defense movements with the flowing power elegance and beauty of our bodies' natural dance. Through this we aim to create a oneness, of mind and movement amongst all participants, regardless of culture, age, sex or religion.
Underlying all that we will be doing, is the shamanistic essence of Africa, in the sense of ’A-Free-KA (Spirit) a connectedness to nature and her wildlife and of a zest for inner peace, harmony and Life itself.
