Come along to Stampalofi open print studio to try your hand at dry point printmaking.
Drypoint is a wonderful print process which uses a transparent plastic plate to print with which means participants can bring a photo or drawing to work from, alternatively I can provide a bunch of inspiration and images. The image can then be placed under the plastic plate and be used as a guide to the mark making process.
After an intro to the stucio we will get to thinking about your image. What you bring might need resized or adjusted to suit the plate. We can talk about collaging or drawing or tracing from photos as all are suited to the image making process.
a trial plate will give us a feeling from scratching and mark making and after a chat and experiment we will have a bit more to think about before we approach our main project.
This is time for a short break that you can grab something to eat if you like or keep working away at your plate if you don't. but when we get back to the studio we can set up the press and get inky.
The last parts of the workshop are a bit more independent but before you go off on a printing spree an alternative inking up process will be introduced.
Once completed you will have a world of drypoint printmaking to explore and are very welcome back to an open access session to continue your journey.
See you there!
p.s. please get in touch directly to ask about other days of the week. If we can get a few people together I can work around you. If it is just yourself I might ask you to join a different workshop. Thanks for understanding.
