We're bringing DKAN training to you at Drupal GovCon 2016!
DKAN is a Drupal distribution that is one of the leading solutions for government open data workflow management, data publishing, and data visualization. It is used by US Federal agencies such as HHS and USDA to assist with US Project Open Data compliance, and is also widely deployed by cities (e.g.: Louisville), States (e.g.: Georgia), and other countries (e.g.: Italy).
Join us on Thursday July 21st to learn hands-on from the DKAN core product team how you can use DKAN not only to assist your Agency with Project Open Data workflows and compliance, but also to manage intra-agency data, build interactive data visualization experiences, tell data stories leveraging a range of content types, and engage the public with your data.
The workshop will be split into three parts:
- 1-2pm - Doing Open Data with DKAN and Drupal: Overview on DKAN’s features and functionality, including a primer on US Project Open Data compliance, data visualization options, and an overview of strategies for civic engagement with data.
- 2-3pm - Build a DKAN Site: Create and configure your own DKAN portal, with hands-on training and support; familiarity with Drupal is helpful, but no programming skills are required
- 3-4pm - DKAN Deep Dive and Q&A: Hands-on more technical session with DKAN’s lead engineer and product manager, addressing DKAN architecture and Drupal best practices for developing with and extending DKAN; basic Drupal developer skills are helpful for this part of the workshop, but the concepts covered will be of interest to all.
Location: Room G2
