Drumming Circle - Connect to the Rhythm Within
Starting Thursday October 17, 2019 7:00-8:30pm
Meets Monthly on the Third Thursday - October 2019 thru March 2020

Facilitated by Therese Yonikus

Drumming is a time-honored method of healing and helping others. While the drum has the ability to put us in touch with our own natural rhythms, the circle helps draw our individual energies together, unifying them into a consolidated force. Drumming helps to release tension, dispel stress and negative feelings, and restore energy. Its beat represents our heart as we become grounded yet taken to a place deep inside where we are keenly aware of our mind and body, and the connection between the two. A drumming circle is very inclusive in that all people have the innate ability to create rhythm and can participate. Each person is given a rhythmic “voice” in this healing practice as we become connected through an invisible energy while united in purpose and community.

Each session has a specific theme:

October - In ancient times, music and rhythm were a primary tool for supporting the well-being of a community. Beginners and experienced drummers alike will help create a community connection rhythm.

November - Returning to the practice of rhythm to help us dive into our deep roots that can provide healing, health and wellness. Drumming becomes a spiritual practice and form of prayer and meditation.

December - Our drumming experience will continue to build our awareness of the primal face of rhythm in our body, our life and our surroundings. December brings us to the return of the Light and the movement into the Winter Solstice and our celebration of the Christ Light at Christmas.

January - We will entrain to the rhythms of this brand-new year aligning our gifts with our life purpose while letting go of what doesn’t serve use. We again tune into the rhythms around us.

February – Our heartbeat rhythm is a “drum” we have been connected to all of our lives. When we drum the heartbeat, we have a deep connection to ourselves and to Mother Earth.

March - brings us to the beginning of Spring. Our drumming will unite us in a common pulse as we welcome spring, a time of renewal and new life.

About our facilitator...

Our circle leader, Therese Yonikus, is studying with Christine Stevens an international teacher, coach music therapist and drum circle facilitator. Therese is dedicated to expanding her knowledge of drumming and will bring new insights and a range of techniques to our monthly gatherings.

Beginners are welcome. A limited number of drums and rattles are available. Please bring your own as well!

$10 registration fee - Online registration is requested by noon, day of session
