Course Overview

Passing the Remote Pilot Knowledge (“Part 107”) test is an important step towards advancing your organization or career with sUAS ("drone") technology, but what comes next? For anyone new to sUAS operations, it is critical to learn how to use drones safely and effectively before beginning to carry out missions in a professional capacity. By signing up this course, you commit to learning from the best. Our instructors leverage their years of commercial, public safety, and defense-sector UAS experience to teach students the ins and outs of putting drones in the sky safely.

Learning Objectives

1. Understand basic flight principles as they pertain to common sUAS operations

2. Gain competency in executing basic UAS maneuvers in GPS and non-GPS mode

3. Prevent and respond to emergencies

4. Operate sUAS under FAA Part 107 regulations in US airspace

5. Understand the principles of risk management and safe operation of sUAS

Prerequisites

This course is designed for students that have already passed the Remote Pilot Knowledge Test but want to strengthen their practical flying skills. Completing two hours prior to participating in the course is recommended but not required. Contact a Consortiq team member for more information.

Required Materials

1. Laptop, iPad, or another device with internet browsing capabilities

2. Drone

3. 2-3 batteries and charging equipment

4. For reference: sUAS Operations Essentials textbook (digital and hard copies provided at no additional cost prior to the course)
