Technology is making switching to an electric vehicle or a renewable source of energy more achievable, and more affordable than ever.

Home Energy Scotland has organised two evening events, bringing together a range of specialists to highlight how recent advances can help you make smart energy choices at home and on the road.

Our free technology showcase event brings together a range of experts to provide information and guidance about electric vehicles (EVs), renewable technologies and look at how home energy storage systems can put you in the driving seat for lower fuel bills and carbon emissions.

Free EV test drives

Between 5.00 - 6.00 and 7.00 – 8.00 we are offering free EV test drives in vehicles from a range of manufacturers including Nissan, Renault, Volvo, Mitshubishi, BMW and Tesla.

7.00 – 8.00 - Meet speakers and specialist advisors and EV test drives

Short informative talks include how different EVs compare in terms of range, charge, fuel costs; charge points designed to work with solar panels; opportunities emerging from evolving energy systems; funding and technical support available to help householders embrace new developments.

Who is this event for?

This event is for anyone interested in making the switch to electric vehicles, considering renewable energy or interested in hearing about evolving, and future energy systems.

If I want to test drive an EV on the night, do I need to bring anything?

Yes, please bring your driver's licence.

I would like tailored advice about EVs and energy options for my home – can I get this at the event?

Yes, Home Energy Scotland specialist advisors will be in attendance to advise on matters relating to both transport and energy efficiency. They can event arrange for a home visit; where qualified staff can attend your home and make recommendations about what improvements you can make to your property.

Can I connect with householders who have improved the energy efficiency of their property/ installed renewable technologies? What is a Green Homes Network Member?

Yes, we can introduce you to our Green Homes Network. A member is a person who has installed energy efficiency measures in their home. They are happy to share their experience of installing the measure and the benefits the measure has made to their property. Will I get refreshments?

Yes – tea and coffee is served at the start of the event.

Can I ask questions of the speakers?

Yes, we have a dedicated Q+A session and there is time at the end of the presentations when you can ask questions.
