You are invited to join Heartland Business Systems, eClass4learning and Cisco for a workshop focused on shaping your districts goals, promoting staff development and enhancing curriculum.

K-12 School District Leadership is tasked with developing the next generation of critical thinkers and productive citizens. Harnessing technology trends in computer mobility and 24/7 web accessibility can transform teaching and learning. Do you share a common vision with your community of faculty, families and students around personalized education and digital equity? Can you mobilize your stakeholders and develop attainable funding strategies?

Superintendents will take away best practices related to mobile and one-to-one computing, advances in video technology and how to build your digital learning ecosystem.

Technology Directors will focus on network and wireless security, united communication and virtualization, server and VDI computing.

9 - 10 AM - IT Trends in Education - Presentation by Greg Mathison, PH.D., from the Cisco Education Solutions team.

10-12 PM - Technical and Superintendent Track Sessions

    • Advancements in Video Technology and 21st Classroom Use Cases

    • Unified Communication – Call manager, Jabber, Singlewire and video
    • Unified Compute – Virtualization, Server and VDI

12:30 - 2 PM - Lunch

A 30-minute presentation by Dr. Richard S. Decman, Superintendent at Herscher CUSD #2 on the K-12 Technology Assessment program will be delivered during lunch.

Presenters

Greg Mathison, M.S., Ph.D.,

Cisco Education Solutions Team

Dr. Mathison has invested more than 30 years of his career as a psychologist, administrator, author, and educator. He serves as Cisco’s Education Solutions Manager, helping schools and universities maximize technologies to transform education. He chairs Cisco’s Schools Executive Exchanges, comprised of 40 district superintendents. For 25 years, Dr. Mathison has taught for in several universities and is currently a Graduate Faculty Scholar with the University of Central Florida, teaching MBA courses such as Executive Leadership and Change Management.

Richard S. Decman

Superintendent at Herscher CUSD #2

Dr. Decman has been the Superintendent of the Herscher Schools for the past three years. Dr. Decman has helped the District move forward in several areas including but not limited to: improving technology throughout the District, curriculum development (alignment to the CCS), moving the District to grade centers, revising policies and procedures for bills and payroll and implementing various means of communication with the school community. This was all done while reducing deficit spending almost 2 million dollars in three years.

Prior to Dr. Decman’s time in Herscher, he served as the Superintendent at Gardner-South Wilmington HS District #73, Principal at Bismarck-Henning High School, Assistant Principal at Lake Zurich High School and taught Social Studies at Pana High School and St. Joe-Ogden High School. During these experiences, Rich developed an appreciation for technology and how it can, if implemented properly, can increase learning for students.
