Event description

Description

While it's difficult to imagine not enjoying a sip of wine with a hunk of your favorite cheese, certain combinations will particularly titillate your tongue and make your soul sing. Join us for a whirlwind tour of the possibilities of wine and cheese pairings, as we sample six premium wines from Bedell Cellars, paired with six premium cheeses from Murray's. Learn which cheese types best match your favorite wines and get insider tips on how to find the right match on your own. Richard Olsen-Harbich, the Winemaker at Bedell, and a Murray's cheese expert will lead this class.

Bedell Cellars is a pioneering, family owned winery in the Long Island wine growing region dedicated to quality and creativity in everything they do. With a commitment to sustainable farming, Bedell has hand-crafted wines in small batches for thirty-eight years, using methods that define the regional style — artistically blending grapes grown in their unique maritime terroir. Bedell wines have achieved critical acclaim and were proudly served at the 2013 U.S. Presidential Inauguration.

Richard Olsen-Harbich is a pioneer in Long Island winemaking with over 35 years of experience. He wrote the North Fork of Long Island appellation into existence in 1985, and is the only Winemaker in Eastern North America to use entirely indigenous yeasts. Rich developed the first Bordeaux/Long Island consultation partnership with M. Paul Pontallier of Chateau Margaux and also helped found Long Island Sustainable Winegrowing, the first third party certification program for vineyard sustainability on the East Coast.
