Event description

Description

"Be the change" is not an order for external action. It is a call for inner work. Eastern cultures, with their Gods & Goddesses, owning their dark and light, allow for the psyche of their culture to accept themselves and have little need for shadow work.

Most Westerners were raised in a dualistic Christian myth which projects darkness outside the self through the concept of evil or the devil. This is one reason meditation is hard for many Westerners and why we have such a dualistic culture of we-them.

A way into a non-dual approach to life is through the world of dreams in which our shadow(which includes our light) appears. This leads to self-acceptance and the sacred marriage of our dualities. Dream work can prepare us for Liberation as it neutralizes vasanas (likes/dislikes/habits) and destroys the need to project or blame as we travel on our karma yoga journey. The work also shines a light on our svadharma (purpose in life) and helps to purify karma. Dark or numinous, dreams are ours to treasure as they are the reflection of the Self (consciousness).

This class is open to all. No prerequisites required.

Please bring a notebook, pen or pencil, a current or recurring dream and a copy of Artful Dreaming by Wewer Keohane, available for purchase in the True Nature Boutique Bookstore.

Bio: Wewer Keohane, Ph.D., author of Artful Dreaming: A Primer for Finding Inspiration from Our Dreams, has been teaching people the beauty of dream work for over 35 years. Recently, after many months of studying Vedanta with Ramji James Swartz, Wewer delved back in to her Jung archives to explore and compare Jungian Psychology with Vedanta and realized that her education and experience with dream work had a major role in leading her to Vedanta and that dream work encompasses many of the qualifications one needs to own the knowledge of Self. She became so enthused that she is eager to share this work. Wewer has been a yogi for over fifty years, and merges yogic philosophy with the psychology of dreaming in her daily life and teachings.
