Turn your entrepreneurial dreams into a reality!

Deep within every single person on earth is a dream. There is a passion to live a life burning with purpose. If you are driven by a need to want to do something more than a normal day job, and you know starting a business is the path to that, this conference is for you.

Whether you simply just have an idea, have written a business plan, or are already in your first year of business, this conference will ensure that you know exactly which steps to take to propel forward in the startup process.

What to Expect:

The conference is designed to equip participants to get things accomplished. Instead of simply attending the conference and taking notes, each participant will be uniquely challenged within the structure of each session to complete a pre-distributed Dream Plan. Each session is structured to build off of the one before it. Therefore, in order to maximize on the materials presented within the sessions, time will be allotted within the conference to complete the tasks on the plan that will ultimately become the basis of the participant’s business model.

With panel discussions from experienced business professionals , business pitches to problem solving sessions, and networking opportunities, this conference will ensure that the participants will do more than learn how to start a business, but actually begin the process.

General Sessions Include:

You Must Be Dreaming (Is Your Idea Worth It?)

We all have a lot of ideas for businesses, but few actually make good ones and fewer are innovative enough to be successful. Before you invest countless hours, energy and money into a business idea, this session will help you understand how to identify a good one, how to know if you should pursue it, and how to develop it to be a solid foundation for a profitable business.

Some of the Questions Answered:

I have so many ideas! Which one do I start with?

How will I know when to begin a business?

How do I work on my idea and still work a career?

Who Needs Your Dream (Finding New Customers)

One of the most important things any business needs is a marketing plan. You must know who your customer is, why they buy from you, and develop a strategy on how to find them. This session will help you develop a solid marketing plan to help you obtain your first customers and begin building revenue.

Some of the Questions Answered:

Where do I find my first customers?

How do I continue to find them?

How can I market my product on a low budget?

Funding the Dream (Raising Capital and Managing It)

Every business requires funding to support it, however, there are multiple ways to fund it. This session will teach you various ways to fund your idea, where to look for capital, how to create a basic book keeping system as well as how to create and budget for your expenses. You will also understand best practices on how to approach potential funders who would like to invest into your business.

Some of the Questions Answered:

How do I approach banks and who do I talk to?

What type of grants should I be looking at and where?

Should I approach my family for money, and if so, how?

I don’t have much money. Can I still start my business?

Modeling the Dream (How to Become Sustainable)

How healthy is your business model? Can it sustain over time? How do you know when you are successful? These are the kinds of questions that will be addressed within this session. Participants will learn how to set reasonable goals, measure their success, create financial projections, and understand the first steps to making their businesses last.

Dream Start

The Dream Start Entreprenuership Conference is Tulsa’s only entrepreneurship conference dedicated to cultivating a more racially diverse entrepreneurial startup community. Currently, less than 4% of all businesses within the Tulsa Metro Area are owned by minorities. This conference hopes to confront that statistic by challenging more minorities to start businesses and giving them the resources to begin.

Tulsa is considered to have one of the leading entreprenurial ecosystems in the country. With its variety of think tanks, a growing startup community, and array of potential startup investors, this community has become a thriving oasis for new entreprenuers. Because of the array of opportunities availabie, this conference serves as a jumpstart to specifically help the minority community organize their business ideas and develop a working business model that will ultimately become the basis of their business plan and business pitch.

By preparing individuals for the entreprenuership process, connecting them to the existing resources available, and helping them establish their first business model, this will lay the foundation for the new entreprenuers to build upon to ultimately make their idea a reality.
