About this Event

We are excited to have you participate in the DREAM IPC 2019 Conference! This year’s conference will feature stimulating workshops, symposia, research/data blitzes and research roundtables geared towards behavioral health care providers, researchers, and trainees interested in integrated primary care.

As part of our expanded programming, we will be offering four concurrent workshops on Thursday, September 19. These 2-hour workshops will cover topics that include co-management of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in integrated primary care, diversity and cultural humility, applying quality improvement (QI) techniques in IPC, and an IPC primer workshop for those who are new to the integrated primary care field. The following concurrent workshops will be offered:

• The Co-Management of Autism Spectrum Disorder in Integrated Primary Care – Tori Foster, PhD; Brittany Perry, DO; Meghan Harrison, DO; Jeffrey Hine, PhD

1. Participants will be able to identify core symptoms of Autism Spectrum Disorder and ways that these may create unique challenges in pediatric primary care settings.

2. Participants will be able to discuss and compare methods for autism screening and assessment and plan/organize procedures for early surveillance in primary care.

3. Participants will develop skills in recognizing and managing physical and behavioral health conditions that often accompany autism through case-based learning

• Awareness, Courage, Humility: An Experiential Diversity Workshop for IPC Providers – Roger Harrison, PhD; Colleen Cullinan, PhD

1. Participants will describe their understanding of their own personal cultural identity as it relates to their role as IPC providers.

2. Participants will explore and discuss the ways that their perceived identities might influence patient or team engagement, rapport, or disclosure.

3. Participants will develop skills for monitoring reactivity and consulting with others.

• Quality Improvement (QI) Bootcamp: Applying QI techniques in Pediatric Integrated Behavioral Health – Miguelina German, PhD; Polina Umylny, PhD; Jason Herrick, MD; Sydney Levine, BA

1. Participants will learn basic QI techniques (i.e., SMART aim statement, driver diagram, and PDSA) which can be applied in a Pediatric Integrated Behavioral Health setting.

2. Participants will be able to describe examples of QI projects in pediatric integrated behavioral health settings

3. Participants will practice utilizing basic QI techniques to address challenges in your own institution

• New to Integrated Behavioral Health?: A Primer for Students and Those New to the Field – Joseph H. Evans, PhD; Holly Roberts, PhD; Brandy Clarke, PhD

1. Participants will be able to understand and be able to put into practice the basic requirements for integrating behavioral health care in pediatric medical practice.

2. Participants will identify practical procedures, assessment and treatment protocols for integrated primary care.

3. Participants will become aware of training materials and protocols available from the Mid-America Mental Health Technology Transfer Center that address Integrated Behavioral Health practice in Pediatrics.

Attendees are encouraged to pre-register for one workshop so workshop leaders will be able to anticipate attendance. Those who have not registered will not be guaranteed seating in their workshop of preference on the day of the conference. Additionally, due to the experiential nature of the diversity workshop, registration will be capped to ensure maximum engagement in the workshop exercises.

If you have any questions or have difficulty registering, please feel free to contact us at dreamconference@nemours.org .
