Drawing the HUMAN FIGURE FROM THE MASTERS (WTDP72-1203)
Overview
Every week, we are drawing THE HUMAN FIGURE based on past achievements, usually a whole body but sometimes new options to work appear, so we may be drawing the figure clothed, in certain fashion, or body parts like portraits, ears, hands, etc.
Depending on the class there may be a short explanation to start, some tips of what to focus on, to help you construct the figure, we may see some example artworks. Our models and objects of study are usually drawings, paintings and sculptures from the past in a tutored class. We sometimes draw more contemporary images after photgraphs for example to depict some clothing, fashion, let's say the human figure dressed.
Usually we draw two or three images and poses, in different lengths of time after some prompt. These online classes are to both learn and enjoy drawing and are intended for beginners as well as more advanced students.
Depending on the class, we may be trying different materials or ways to approach the female and male figures. After drawing, optionally you can share your work and receive some feedback.
If you are a beginning student I suggest using:
Materials:
- Willow charcoal or
- 6B graphite pencil/stick
- A3 size drawing paper (29,7 x 42,0 cm // 11.7 x 16.5 in) on
- A hard surface as a drawing board
- An eraser (kneadead and/or regular rubber for pencil)
- A piece of cotton fabric to clean the charcoal
- A sharpener.
- If you draw with charcoal, you need a fixative when it's finished.
If you are more experienced, you can choose the materials you want to work with, though (i.e. ink applied with brush and nib, fountain pen, etc).
Before doing our own great drawings or paintings we need to study what the artists that came before us did in the past, those wonderful pieces teach us big lessons, so let's learn from the masters and their artworks.

Ways to Draw and Paint - Online Art Classes
I'm a visual arts teacher (painting-drawing and print making) in Argentina. I've been teaching since 2006, drawing, painting and engraving classes as well as hundreds of life drawing classes at big Cultural Centers and different private studios including mine. Since 2020 I've been teaching mostly online though I also continue with Life Drawing classes in person. English is my second language; I speak Spanish where I live. IMPORTANT: It's unusual that I cancel a class, but if I ever have do it for something like electricity/internet signal outage, health related or beyond my control, I will send you an email telling you, then later we'll arrange a new schedule that is possible to you. You won't miss the class. https://linktr.ee/dibujofranco
