Drawing Salon: The Shaw Memorial
Sun, March 26, 2017, 1:00 PM – 3:30 PM EDT
Join us for sketching and conversation in the galleries. In this workshop, meditate on Augustus Saint-Gaudens’s memorial to honor Civil War heroes Colonel Robert Gould Shaw and the men of the 54th Massachusetts regiment.
Drawing Salon is an adult program hosted by the National Gallery of Art. Led by practicing artists and museum educators, this series of workshops integrates art history and studio art practices. Each workshop focuses on an intimate selection of works, inviting visitors to slow down and join others in discovering the complexity within each work of art.
Workshops are free but advance registration is required. Sketching prompts are designed for all skill levels; beginning and advanced participants are welcome. All drawing materials are provided. Ages 18 and over. Please select one date to attend.
