Description

Level: Suited for adults, teens, and preteens (10-12). Beginner to advanced. No previous art experience required.

Class Description: Improve your drawing and painting skills by learning the visual language of “seeing". Learn how to use your drawing tools and paints through exploration and experimentation while making progress improving your technique. Set an artistic goal for yourself and learn at your own pace. No pressure to create a masterpiece unless one happens to emerge.

Students work on their own individual projects. Lessons are geared towards each student's creative goals. The instructor helps the student choose a drawing or painting project and guides them through the process from start to finish.

Class size: Ranges from 1 to 8 students.

Current Schedule: Mondays 4-6pm, Tuesdays 12:30-2:30pm, Wednesdays 3-5pm, Thursdays 6-8pm, Saturdays 12-2pm or 2:30pm-4:30pm, Sundays 12-2pm. (Contact us via email or phone to make sure space is available in your desired class time.)

Duration: Classes are held year-round. Students have the option of attending one month's session or renewing their classes continuously from month to month.

Location: Classes are held in The Shoe Factory Art Co-op on the second floor of the Anderson Arts Building, conveniently located near the Memorial Art Gallery and next to Village Gate in Rochester's Neighborhood of the Arts.

Instructor: Beth Brown
Beth Brown is a painter, commercial artist, and graphic designer. She is gallery director at the Shoe Factory Art Co-op in Rochester, NY and former director of Berkshire Dreams Gallery in Gt. Barrington, Mass. She studied drawing & painting at the School of the Musem of Fine Arts, Boston.

Supplies: Students bring their own drawing or painting supplies. Supply list will be provided. Painting instruction offered in acrylic, oil, watercolor, or gouache.

Additional Info: Great class for high school students who are developing their art portfolio requirements for college. Homeschoolers can add this class to their curriculum.

If you'd like to start later than the first class date of the month, simply purchase the ticket and your missed classes will be applied to the following month's schedule. Before registering, contact us to confirm your schedule arrangement.

Flexible schedule. Planned absences and make-up classes can be arranged with instructor.
