Suited for adults, teens, and preteens (10-12). Beginners welcome. No previous art experience required. Advanced level students have the option of recieving instruction or doing independent study.
Class Description: Improve your drawing and painting skills by learning the visual language of “seeing". Learn how to use your drawing tools and paints through exploration and experimentation while making progress improving your technique. Set an artistic goal for yourself and learn at your own pace. No pressure to create a masterpiece unless one happens to emerge.
Students work on their own individual projects. Lessons are geared towards each student's needs and goals. The instructor helps the student choose their own drawing or painting project and guides them through the process from start to finish.
Class size: Ranges from 1 to 8 students.
Duration: Classes are held year-round. Students have the option of attending one month's session or renewing their classes continuously month to month.
Location: Classes are held in The Shoe Factory Art Co-op on the second floor of the Anderson Arts Building, conveniently located near the Memorial Art Gallery and next to Village Gate in Rochester's Neighborhood of the Arts.
Instructor: Beth Brown
Beth Brown is a painter, commercial artist, and graphic designer. She is gallery director at the Shoe Factory Art Co-op in Rochester, NY and former director of Berkshire Dreams Gallery in Gt. Barrington, Mass. She studied drawing & painting at the School of the Musem of Fine Arts, Boston.

Paints/Supplies: Instruction offered in acrylic, oil, watercolor, or gouache. Students bring their own drawing and painting supplies. Supply list will be provided.
Additional Info: Great class for high school students who need to develop their art portfolio requirements for college. Homeschoolers can add this class to their curriculum.
If you'd like to start later than the first class date of the month, simply purchase the ticket and your missed classes will be applied to the following month's schedule. Before registering, contact us to confirm a different schedule arrangement.
Students are allowed one courtesy per month to make up one absence. Absences more than once are counted as classes taken.
