Drawing is Seeing
*NO DRAWING SKILLS NECESSARY FOR THIS SERIES*
An unusual shaped tree, a turn in the creek, a mountain view can wake us up on a trail. Once we have taken the photograph, within minutes, we are back on cruise control, thinking about the rest of the day or the lunch we packed. The view is lost. The feeling of connection to the tree is lost. The patterns we saw in the creek are gone.
What did we really see? How do we reconnect to our attention?
Drawing, connecting your hand in motion to your eye and brain, is a way to keep attention. When we do this, we wake up to the world of detail, delight and complexity that is always there if we chose to attend to it, to see it.
Drawing is a skill, like reading, that can be learned. This 2 hour class intends to teach you the skills to draw what you see in nature. The purpose of the class is not to create art, but to give you tools to see more clearly and to remember in more detail the world that is around you, a world that is always ready for your attention and curiosity.
Please feel free to bring a chair to allow you to focus in comfort ~ All other materials will be provided.
~Space is limited please RSVP and fill out SDRVC waiver ~
