Description
We believe that sketching by hand is the best way to observe and relate to our environments and top architects use ink and paper daily.
In honor of Mike Welton's new book, Drawing from Practice: Architects and the Meaning of Freehand, and the six North Carolina architects featured, we are hosting a book release party and signing at the Center for Architecture and Design on Tuesday, May 19th.
Mike Welton will be joined by architects Ellen Cassilly, Chad Everhart, Phil Freelon, Matt Griffith, Frank Harmon, Erin Sterling Lewis. The author and architects will discuss how sketching influences their practice, display sketches, and host a short Q&A. Signed copies of Drawing from Practice will be available for purchase.

Drawing from Practice explores and illuminates the ways that 26 diverse and reputable architects use freehand drawing to shape our built environment. Author J. Michael Welton traces the tactile sketch, from initial parti to finished product, through words, images, and photographs that reveal the creative process in action.
