In this class we will study the figure from life as an analogue to studying broader sources of inspiration. Students will work in conté on newsprint to study the figure through line and gesture. We will learn to be faithful observers of life in the study of anatomy, value, and composition. As we draw, our lines hold not just the life we observe but our own experiences. In this class we will practice acknowledging successes and failures without judgment. I will start with demonstrations leading into guided figure drawing sessions, and we will finish with a group show and tell to share our experiences.
